He is the former Group CEO of CIC Insurance and is credited with leading the transformation of CIC Insurance from a very small co-operative insurer to the 3rd largest insurer in Kenya. He has served on several public,private and international boards and has chaired strategic initiatives in the insurance and government sectors.

Barbara Chesire

Barbara has 15 years insurance experience, 12 of which have been in microinsurance and inclusive insurance. An actuarial scientist by training, Barbara is passionate to see insurance play a role in the reduction of poverty in her country, Kenya and across the continent. She co-founded AB Consultants in 2014 with a goal to make insurance accessible to those who need it most. At AB Consultants she has led microinsurance projects in market research, strategy development, product design, pricing and actuarial consulting across different countries in Africa including Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia.

Stephen Opiyo (PhD)

Stephen is a Bioinformatics Research Scientist at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, USA. He obtained his PhD in Bioinformatics from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA, and a Post-Doctoral training in Data Science and Molecular Evolution at the same University. He lectures and gives workshops in statistics, bioinformatics, metabolomics, proteomics, genomics, metagenomics, data science, machine learning and Geographical Information Systems in developed and developing countries.
